Popular Hotel in Albany is Trashed by Vandals After Covid Shutdown
See how a recently renovated hotel in Albany got destroyed by vandals during the Covid lockdown in the gallery below.
A popular hotel located in the heart of one of Albany's busiest roads has been abandoned since the start of Covid. While it sat unoccupied, someone apparently thought it was okay to break in and destroy the Red Lion Hotel which sits on Wolf Road in Colonie. Such a shame on so many levels for a place with a pristine location, that had only been renovated a few years ago.
These photos were taken over the summer to show how vandals broke in and basically destroyed the place. You may not be able to see the damage from Wolf Road, but if you look inside, the damage is pretty extensive.
The man who took these pictures requested anonymity but has allowed TSM to publish these photos taken over the summer at 205 Wolf Road in Colonie.
According to the Times Union, the Red Lion Inn closed for good at the height of the global pandemic, was recently "purchased by a small group of unnamed buyers who want to redevelop the nearly 13 acres off Wolf Road. The property at 205 Wolf Road sold for less than $10 million, according to Linda Wang, who serves as office manager for the buyers."
Here's a look at what was left of the "old" Red Lion Inn before the new buyers took over.
