A popular Watervliet eatery closed its doors for good earlier this week, surprising local customers.

Less than 2 years ago, we passed along the news that The Purple Pub, a beloved Watervliet spot known for its great pizza and more, was shutting down to pass the torch to new owners.

The Trestle Restaurant & Pub in Watervliet, which became a popular spot in its own right, had now surprised its customers this week when it announced on Tuesday on Facebook it was closing for good that night.

The Facebook post gave no exact reason for the closure, and by all accounts from commenters on the Facebook post, the closing took patrons by surprise, and the restaurant will be sorely missed by its loyal customers. Like its predecessor, The Purple Pub, The Trestle quickly became a local favorite when it took over the space in 2023.

The Trestle joins a long list of mostly national chains and some local spots in the Capital Region that have closed up shop over the past 10-12 months for various reasons.
