The weather is getting nicer and little by little more events are being scheduled in this "new normal" after the pandemic. One of the most anticipated events that draw thousands in Schenectady County will return this summer.

Downtown Schenectady Will Be Hosting Once Again

SummerNight, a huge block party that started over seventeen years ago will finally return sometime this summer to downtown Schenectady. Past events have seen over twenty thousand people attend.

What is SummerNight?

The block party runs one night and features live music, food, and family-friendly fun. There has been an uptick of not only local bands but national acts on different stages. There is always a Kids Zone and of course a fan favorite the Schenectady County Battle of the Bands according to the Daily Gazette.

When is SummerNight and What Bands Will Be Performing?

Right now there is no exact date that has been revealed for SummerNight but it is typically held sometime in mid-July. Also, details about the music and bands are being kept a secret for now.

Legislator Cathy Gatta who is the Chairwoman of Tourism, Arts, and Special Events said of the event:

While details are still being worked out, we hope to make an announcement in the coming weeks and look forward to hosting this free event that draws visitors from all over the Capital Region to our community.

Bringing People to Downtown Schenectady is Exciting Again

After the pandemic, there is an excitement about reintroducing people to what downtown Schenectady has to offer. Not only is it a fun night out, but there are many new businesses that people can get acquainted with. There is more opportunity to explore Schenectady when events like this are on the calendar.
