According to the Democrat and Chronicle, WHEC-TV (Channel 10) fired their chief meteorologist Jeremy Kappell on Monday.  It came three days after he appeared to refer to a Rochester park as "Martin Luther Coon King Jr. Park" in a live shot on a newscast.

According to the report, Kappell claims to have simply jumbled his words, and explained that "In my mind I knew I mispronounced but there was no malice nothing that I could’ve … I had no idea the way it came across to many people," Kappell said. "That is not a word I said I promise you that."
