New York’s Worst Small Towns

You might be surprised to find out that there aren't very many Capital Region Towns on the list of New York's worst small towns from our friends at Roadsnacks.com!  Or, maybe you knew all along how great the tiny towns around our state's capital really are!

Either way, 163 small towns with a population between 100 and 1,000 were ranked using this criteria -

• Population Density (The lower the worse)
• Highest Unemployment Rates
• Low housing costs (meaning there’s no demand)
• Adjusted Median Income (Median income adjusted for the cost of living)
• Education (Number of high school dropouts)
• High Crime

And here are the top ten, or should we say bottom 10... worst small towns in New York -

1. Altmar
2. Cherry Creek
3. Richburg
4. Bridgewater
5. Panama
6. Nelliston
7. Millport
8. Brushton
9. Richville
10. Wellsburg

See!  The Capital Region did great!  3 of worst towns on the list are right around the area where I grew up!  Yikes!
