It's hard to not be thinking about flowers at this time of year. We all have our personal favorites, but some of us agree on certain varieties more than others...

New York's Favorite Flower
Recently, Readers Digest conducted a poll to discover what every state's favorite flower was. New York, unfortunately, didn't pick the most niche answer, but it makes sense nonetheless.
Based on the vast majority, New York's favorite flower is the Rose! We share that in common with nine other states: Louisiana, Mississippi, Georgia, Florida, Ohio, Illinois, New Jersey, Virginia, and Maryland. Sure, it's a common favorite flower, but New York's reasoning behind it is a little more interesting than the rest...
Why is The Rose Our Favorite Flower?
Most likely, the main reasoning behind this choice is because the Rose is our state Flower! every state has a list of "State Emblems", most of which include a state flower. Ours just happens to coincide with the state's favorite.
We're kind of special in that regard. The rose isn't just New York's state flower, but the national floral emblem of the United States.
Adding to that, we have so much variety with the rose. When you think of it, you probably see the bright red flower with thorns, but roses can come in all shapes and colors, making it one of earth's most versatile decorations.
