New York Giants’ Rival Leaks Important Document! What Did It Say?
There is no person in the world of sports quite like Jerry Jones.
The owner of the Dallas Cowboys is a one-of-a-kind figure, and for better or for worse, has built something quite spectacular deep in the heart of Texas. Jones is clearly a smart and shrewd businessman, but has received criticism for the amount of say that he has in the construction of the Cowboys team that takes the field every Sunday.
So, naturally, when it comes time to participate in the draft, Jones is front-and-center, and he was the center of attention during the Cowboys' post-draft press conference, when he held of a secret document for all of the media to behold.
Cowboys' Owner Jerry Jones Reveals Draft Board, Prospect Rankings
Sitting at a press conference with Cowboys' head coach Mike McCarthy, as well as vice presidents Stephen Jones and Will McClay, Jones was in the middle of fielding a question about a particular pick the team made in this year's NFL Draft.
Then, according to a story written by CBS Sports, he did this:
The multi-colored sheet that Jones showed to the media, was the Dallas Cowboys' master draft sheet, containing names of draft prospects ranked in order from "best" to "worst" according to Dallas scouts. Though the sheet is far away from the camera in that angle, it wasn't far enough away. Members of the media captured the image of the sheet, enlarged it, and began to de-code the names on the list.
So, who was listed at the top of the Cowboys' draft board? New York fans, listen up!
Cowboys Rate New York Giants' Picks as Top Two Players in Draft
As deciphered by CBS Sports and a number of other outlets, the top two players on the Dallas Cowboys' draft list were defensive end Kayvon Thibodeaux, and offensive lineman Evan Neal.
The two picks made by New York Giants' GM Joe Schoen and company? Defensive end Kayvon Thibodeaux, and offensive lineman Evan Neal.
It's hilarious enough that Jerry Jones would show his draft board to the media to begin with. It's downright hysterical that the top two players on the leaked Cowboys' sheet were both selected by the Giants, and neither were taken with the first overall pick.
The New York Giants have been playing "little brother" to the Dallas Cowboys in recent years, but this time around, it appears as though Big Blue came out on top.
Reading a bit further down the list, edge rusher Travon Walker was ranked as the seventh-best player, and ended up being selected with the first overall pick by the Jacksonville Jaguars. Edge rush rusher Aidan Hutchinson, who went second overall to Detroit, was slotted as the third-best player. New York Jets' fans also got some good news from this list, as the players chosen with picks No. 4 and No. 10 were ranked 4th and 5th by the Dallas Cowboys.
Now the question becomes: what else can the media get Jerry Jones to reveal simply by asking him questions?
