Rivers Casino, Schenectady Adding New Way to Gamble
It's the only partnership like this so far in the state and representatives are hoping the perfect timing of it will kick it off as a success.
Rivers Casino and Resort in Schenectady is partnering with Capital Off-Track Betting to bring racetrack betting back into a New York State casino. New York Upstate is reporting that the five new Upstate casinos are struggling financially and they hope that this pairing could attract new people to Rivers as well as bring more revenue to the surrounding Schenectady area.
Once inside Rivers, just in time for the Kentucky Derby this weekend, Capital OTB will have a "branch" inside of the restaurant Van Slycks. They're going to be offering three betting terminals (two at the bar and a kiosk window with a live teller). They will also be adding TVs set specifically on horse racing in the bar area. The hope for OTBs is that the potential success of this partnership will bring OTB into other casinos in New York State as well.
