NASCAR Racing At The Olympics?

Well not exactly. But there is a major connection between NASCAR and and some high speed competition at the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi.

Those high speeds will come from bobsledding competition where the U.S. men's four-man team will try to repeat as Olympic gold medal winners.

The Americans topped the field four years ago at the Winter Games in Vancouver using the Night Train bobsled built by the Bo-Dyn Bobsled Project.  

The Bo-Dyn Bobsled Project was founded in 1992 by former NASCAR driver and Daytona 500 winner Geoff Bodine and Bodine's longtime partner from his Modified auto racing days here in the Northeast.

The next generation Night Train 2 four-man sled was designed and engineered in the Chassis Dynamics race shop in Oxford, CT and features state-of-the-art suspension, updated steering and a more light-weight carbon fiber construction.To further the NASCAR connection, a major NASCAR sponsor - Whelen Engineering funded most of the cost to design and build Night Train 2. Additionally, the sled was assembled in a shop owned by NASCAR racer Joey Logano and his father, Tom.

Team USA is hoping to use momentum to help secure gold at the Olympics. The Bo-Dyn Night Train 2 team of Steven Holcomb (Park City, Utah) Curt Tomasevicz (Shelby, Neb.), Steve Langton (Melrose, Mass.) and Chris Fogt (Alpine, Utah) ended the four-man World Cup season the way they started it by winning in Koenigssee, Germany a couple of weeks ago.
