Ronald Piper emailed us  and asked us if we could help him out with something that is important to him. Believe me, he has been working hard and is full of ambition. He's a bright 8th grader at Taconic Hills Middle School that is actually taking some accelerated 9th grade classes too. Here is the well thought out letter Ronald wrote us to ask for our help getting the word out on some events he is holding to raise money for an incredible cause and make a dream come true for him:

I am writing to ask for your help, my name is Ronald Piper III . I am a 12- year-old 8th grader at Taconic Hills Middle School and taking two accelerated 9th grade classes this year. My mom and dad listen to you every morning!

I have a rare opportunity to experience International Travel with an organization called People to People.  I have been accepted as a Student Ambassador and will join a delegation of students entering 9th grade in 2013 on a 19-day educational program that will take us through Ireland, England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Our curriculum will teach us about the history, culture, and people of the region.  I know there is no better way to learn than to experience it first hand!  I will be able to visit a school and experience a two-night and three day home stay in Ireland.  Some of the great things we will do in our group is meet and interact with a British Member of Parliament, rappel down the walls of Welsh Castle and white water rafting in the Scottish Highlands!  Before this opportunity, these are activities I could only DREAM about!  Can you tell I am excited??  If you want to learn more about the program, I can try to answer your questions, get the answers or you can visit www.peopletopeople.com.

I am paying my way and raising money for the program.  I have been recycling cans and bottles, mowing lawns, plan on shoveling snow and reaching out to local businesses.  I also started recycling cell phones and ink jet cartridges with an organization called Phoneraisers.com.  Early next year I will be hosting a pancake breakfast and/or a spaghetti dinner.  When I have the dates, can you advertise for me???

Thank you for supporting me in my goal to explore and understand my Irish, Scottish and English Heritage first hand!"

Ronald, no problem. We want you to get more than enough money for this trip and it makes us happy to see you working hard for it. So folks here is one way you can really help him hit his goal for the money he needs for the trip which is $6,500! Ronald will be hosting a pancake breakfast on March 3rd from 8am-Noon at the Copake Memorial Park Building on Mountain View Road in Copake.

Save your appetites and help Ronald out, and if you toss him an extra dollar tip when you're done eating it would mean the world to him!
