We are lucky to have so many great local apple orchards here in the Capital Region. It was sad to find out that one of them will be closing after 50 years. A staple family owned orchard in Clifton Park for the last fifty years will be closing this weekend. According to News 10 ABC, Lindseys Idyllwood Orchard had to make the difficult decision to close. They were the first pick your own apple orchard in Clifton Park and four generations of family have worked there.

The family says that their sales were down about fifteen percent last year and that families don't come in to pick their own like they used to. They also say that with the increase of labor costs, it doesn't make sense anymore to keep the orchard open.

The Lindsey family will keep their country store open and will also keep the orchard land within the family. Lyndseys Idyllwood Orchard on 267 Sugar Hill Road will close this Sunday November 4th at 6pm. The country store that will remain open is at 1537 Route 9 in Clifton Park.
