2010- Blake Shelton proposes to Miranda Lambert in the woods near her home in Tishomingo, Oklahoma. Miranda says yes!

2005- Kenny Chesney marries actress Renee Zellweger in the Virgin Islands. The couple first met in January during taping of the NBC special "Tsunami Aid: A Concert Of Hope."  Four months after the beachside ceremony, the marriage is annulled.

2001- 'I Hope You Dance' wins three honors for Single Record, Song and Vocal Event of the Year (for Lee Ann Womack and backing vocalists Sons of the Desert) at the Academy of Country Music Awards.

1989- At the young age of 33, Keith Whitley dies from alcohol poisoning at his home in Nashville. At the time, he was married to Lorrie Morgan and he saw three of his songs hit No. 1, including 'Don't Close Your Eyes' 'When You Say Nothing At All' and 'I'm No Stranger To The Rain.'
