It is likely that you, or someone you know, has received an automobile safety recall notice at one time or another. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, (NHTSA) these recalls could be to repair your airbags, an issue with tires or just about any piece of equipment that is considered a safety risk.

New York State Department of Motor Vehicles is issuing a 'do not drive" advisory for certain makes and models. This is due to an issue with recalled airbags. Let's see if you have one of the vehicles in question.

This is an immediate Toyota "DO NOT DRIVE" advisory regarding certain 2003-2005 models with recalled Takata airbags. This advisory pertains to approximately 50,000 vehicles and the repair is free of charge to you.

The recall is for vehicles in the United States. Here are the Toyota models;

    • 2003-2004 Corolla
    • 2003-2004 Corolla Matrix
    • 2004-2005 RAV4

The NHTSA states that more that 65 million Takata air bags have been recalled because these air bags can explode when deployed, causing serious injury or even death.

Certain Dodge RAM trucks and BMW vehicles are included on the "do not drive" advisory. Owners should not drive these vehicles until the free repair is complete. Contact your local dealer repair options before you drive to the garage. To see if your vehicle is on the list visit the NHTSA website HERE.
