Air Quality Alert Issued in Capital Region

As the wildfires in Canada intensify so does the smoke that has entered the Capital Region and other parts of New York. The result of that is an air quality alert has been issued for most of New York State. Some areas have a higher alert than others.

On Wednesday many of us woke up to hazy skies that got more intense during the day, even turning yellow as the day went on in the Capital Region. While it doesn't look like that on Thursday morning, you can smell smoke in the area a bit more.

The biggest concern is not the smoke but the particulates that will enter the area due to the smoke. This makes the air dangerous for not just those who are vulnerable, but to everyone. Be sure to monitor this situation as the day goes on.

These air quality warning span the entire Northeast and Midwest as the smoke moves through the US from Canada. From the NWS:

Northwest winds will continue to push wildfire smoke from fires far NE Minnesota and SW Ontario into the Northeast U.S.
