There is quite a stark difference between expectation and reality for the 2023 New York Giants.

Let's start with the expectation. After finishing the 2022 regular season with a record of 9-7-1, Daniel Jones and the New York Giants won a playoff game against the Minnesota Vikings. Though they lost the following week against Philadelphia, the bar had been re-set in New York. The Giants were a playoff team once again, and were expected to return to that form in 2023.

That was the expectation. This is reality, however, and the Giants' $40 million quarterback is now done for the season, and his back-up is hurt, too. So, the hopes and dreams of Big Blue fans rest in the hands of their third-string QB, who apparently, still lives with his parents.

Let's talk about Tommy DeVito.

Tommy DeVito Goes from Parent's House for NFL Starter with New York Giants

Just when you thought the 2023 season couldn't get any stranger for the New York Giants, it did. A story was published by ESPN on Saturday, one which detailed the off-field life of Giants' third-stringer-turned-starting-quarterback, Tommy DeVito.

DeVito, a 25-year old rookie from Cedar Grove, N.J., has been thrust into the spotlight of New York sports in the matter of days. It's happened so fast, in fact, that he hasn't even been able to rent an apartment or purchase a home.

That's right, folks, Tommy DeVito still lives with his parents. Check this out:

"Everything that I need is there at the house. The decision was made since this level of football is stressful for a rookie, especially from the quarterback position. There is a lot going on, a lot of meetings. So everything outside of football is handled by my family."

"I don't have to worry about laundry, what I'm eating for dinner, chicken cutlets and all that is waiting for me when I get there. My mom still makes my bed. Everything is handled for me. Honestly, I don't even know if I could find a place closer to here than where I live. It takes me 12 minutes to get here." - DeVito via ESPN

I don't ever need to meet him, because I can tell you this already: Tommy DeVito is an absolute gem.

DeVito's life choices have been endorsed by not one, but multiple Giants' teammates. Here's what they told ESPN's Jordan Raanan:

"That is the greatest. You know what, smart! Saving his money. Genius!" - Justin Pugh

"I've been over there. I love going to his spot." - Jalin Hyatt

"The perfect story." - Saquon Barkley

DeVito played in parts of four seasons with the Syracuse Orange. He transferred to Illinois for the 2022 season, a year in which he went 8-5 as the team's starter. He was signed by New York as an undrafted free agent on April 29, 2023.
