Capital Region Buffalo Bills and New York Jets fans, that also happen to be Spectrum cable customers, are beginning to make alternate plans to watch Monday night's Week One match-up between the two AFC East foes.

Charter Communications, who owns Spectrum cable across the country, and Disney Entertainment are in a money squable. So, Charter has pulled all of the Disney owned networks on their system and that includes ESPN. The Bills vs. Jets game, featuring Josh Allen vs. Aaron Rodgers, is part of ESPN's Monday Night Football package...and, well, once again the fans get screwed. That is, unless you have a plan!

Spectrum cable customers across the Empire State are flocking to free trials being offered by streaming services, such as fuboTV or DirectTV Stream. Of course, you will have to cancel the service within 30 days, if you don't want to keep paying for an additional streaming service and/or ESPN is returned to the Spectrum cable line-up. Or, you can permanently make the switch from Spectrum to one of the other services. And, if you are like me and countless other New York sports fans, the game of musical-television streaming apps continues.

In the past 24 months, I have gone from Verizon, to YouTubeTV, to DirectTV Stream and now to Spectrum. Along the way, I have had to purchase multiple services to cover disputes similar to this one (see DirectTV Stream and their battle with FOX). This is unfair to the customers. Watching these games are part of my job, so I am given little choice. Whether it's for work or you are just a fan, customers shouldn't have to purchase another streaming app six weeks after signing up for your service, ever. Charter Communications needs to get this deal done and let subscribers watch the programming we are paying for!
