This Upstate Casino Just Beat Every Other Resort in New York

If you've made the trip out to Turning Stone for a weekend, you already know it's not just a casino. This year, that reputation just got some official backing.

Casino Player Magazine named Turning Stone Resort Casino the #1 Best Overall Gaming Resort in New York, and you can read the full announcement here. The resort walked away with 13 first-place wins and 33 awards total in this year's Best of Gaming Awards, more than any other resort or casino in the state.

Here's Every Award Turning Stone Won This Year

If you've spent any time there, none of this list will surprise you. Turning Stone's first-place finishes include Best Overall Gaming Resort, Best Hotel, Best Pool, Best Golf Course (Kaluhyat), Best VIP Lounge/Area, Best Promotions, Best Table Game Tournaments, Best High Limit Poker Room, Best Poker Room, Best Poker Tournaments, Best Live Poker, Best Bingo, and Best Overall Sports Book.

Casino Player Magazine bases these awards on guest feedback, not internal nominations, so this is coming from the people who actually showed up and played.

What's Changing at Turning Stone Right Now

If you've noticed Turning Stone looking a little different lately, there's a reason. The awards land as the first phase of the resort's $400 million expansion project is arriving, which includes a new 258-room hotel called The Crescent and a new restaurant, Salt.

More is coming this September, when Turning Stone opens a new convention and events center with nine meeting rooms, a 30,000-square-foot ballroom, and an outdoor courtyard. Once it opens, it will roughly double the resort's total events space to 225,000 square feet.

Turning Stone's Track Record Goes Back Years

This year's wins add to a list Turning Stone has been building for a while. The resort has received more than 1,000 national awards and recognitions total, and recently was named the #1 Weekend Golf Getaway by Golf Digest.

Oneida Indian Nation Representative and Turning Stone Enterprises CEO Ray Halbritter credited the wins to that ongoing investment, saying the resort stays competitive by continuing to change rather than standing still.

Today, Turning Stone includes six hotels, two spas, five golf courses, more than 26 dining options, a 125,000-square-foot gaming floor, a sports betting lounge, a concert venue, and a 5,000-seat arena. It sits about 30 miles east of Syracuse at NYS Thruway exit 33.
