We're only six days away from the Buffalo Bills 2023 regular season opener. The Bills travel to MetLife Stadium in New Jersey to play the New York Jets on Monday Night Football.

Joe Buck and Troy Aikman on the broadcast; the ManningCast with Peyton and Eli; Aaron Rodgers debut in a Jets uniform and of course, Josh Allen and Stefon Diggs, Damar Hamlin's first regular season game back. There are plenty of storylines for the game.

The Bills have one of the best rosters in the NFL, with the only real weakness on paper at MLB, where they will rely on Tyrel Dodson, Terrel Bernard and newly signed free agent Christian Kirksey to fill the gap left by Tremaine Edmunds.

General manager Brandon Beane is not quite done with contracts, however. The Bills reportedly made two moves on Tuesday that helps they get more cap space.

Field Yates of ESPN is reporting that the Bills have restructured the contracts of both nickel cornerback Taron Johnson and offensive lineman Ryan Bates.

The moves creates $4.5 million extra in cap space for 2023.

Some Bills fans are assuming this means the Bills will be making a move with the new cap space, but in reality this means they have insurance money.

Beane has said in the past he wants a few million dollars in cap space for a season. This move was required for a few teams, including the Bills. They needed enough wiggle room for practice squad moves, waiver wire pickups and potential signings/trades that might present themselves during the season.

The Bills have their "for a rainy day" cap space now with Johnson and Bates restructuring their contracts.
