Sometimes I don't understand award shows and what criteria they use for winning.  They gave Kenny Rogers an award last nite.  That's great and everything, but why did they wait this long?

Here's the bearded one receiving his Lifetime Achievement award.  Congrats, Kenny, but I have something to say.....

This man is, what -75 years old? According to Wikipedia, he has sold over 130 million records.  He is one of the highest selling artists of all time.  I think you could easily credit him for popularizing country music across all formats.  He has topped the charts for almost 200 weeks.  Wouldn't this be a no brainer?  Why did it take so damn long?  It almost feels like they gave it to him out of sympathy now that he's "old".  I just don't get it, do you?

And while you're at it, you need to hear his new song with Dolly Parton -"You Can't Make Old Friends".  They've both still got it, folks.

Sorry, but I'm a huge fan of this guy.  It shouldn't have taken this long.  Period.  Your thoughts?
