Iconic Motel on Prime South Broadway Spot in Saratoga Will Be Leveled
An iconic motel that has been on South Broadway in Saratoga for decades will be demolished if plans get approved. Even though the Turf and Spa Motel may be gone, they are hoping to replace it with a brand new, state-of-the-art hotel.
What is the Plan for the New Hotel?
Larkin Hospitality of Vermont bought the motel five years ago and they are hoping the city signs off on the design and materials. The plan is to demolish the Turf and Spa and replace it with a hundred twenty-room hotel by Marriott according to the Albany Business Review.
The new hotel will be a four-story, one hundred thousand two hundred eighty square foot building with brick and glass that would also have underground and street level parking. Parking would fit one hundred twenty-nine cars.
The Turf And Spa Motel is Still Open
Because it is Saratoga Racing season, the Turf and Spa Motel is currently open to accommodate those attending this year's Saratoga Race Course.
When Will Construction Begin on the New Hotel
Although it seems they are getting closer to building the new hotel, there is no set date yet for the start of demolition of the Turf and Spa Motel. Two years ago when the project was set to begin, the estimated cost according to AC Hotels by Marriott stated that construction would be about thirteen to twenty-three million dollars. That does not take into consideration the cost of demolishing the Turf and Spa Motel.
