Daylight Savings Time is here, we've seen temperatures approach 50, and Spring arrives on March 20, 2103. This is all great news, unless you like to ice fish.

If you're one of those people that's still brave enough to get on the ice to fish, the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) reminds you that this Friday March 15, 2013 is the last day.  According to YNN, "The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has set this Friday (March 15) as the deadline to have all permanent shanties removed from the ice. Anyone who fails to do so risks a fine of $100."

Before you head out on the ice, click this link to see official ice fishing information from the DEC. This helpful page includes tips on ice cutting, proper clothing, safety and the ice thickness table.
