Hattie’s Restaurant Updates Move to Albany Landmark with Notable Chef
Hattie's Restaurant is known for having the best fried chicken in the Capital Region and beyond. They have their restaurant and shacks in Saratoga Springs and a spot at the Saratoga Race Course. They are currently renovating an iconic Albany landmark and just announced their head chef for that new location in Albany.
Where is the New Hattie's Location Going to Be?
The new Hattie's restaurant will be going into the iconic Albany landmark that was once Lombardo's Restaurant. It was in that space for over one hundred years. The building is hard to miss in downtown Albany with the giant Lombardo's sign cutting through the middle of the building.
What Kinds of Renovations Are Being Made?
Kitchen equipment has been ordered to accommodate the space. There will be smokers to expand what Hattie's in Saratoga is known for. With the bigger space in Albany, they will be able to add to their already delicious menu. The front of the house and the bar designs are still being worked out. They will get started with general construction first.
The New Hattie's Restaurant will be at 121 Madison Ave in Albany.
Will the Menu Be Different and Who Is Head Chef?
The menu will be an expanded one from the original Hattie's restaurant in Saratoga Springs. The food will still be New Orleans-inspired but will be beyond what the original Hattie's is capable of in the small Saratoga space. The head chef is Mark D. Graham. He has been at MezzaNotte Ristorante in Guilderland, Salt and Char, and the Wine Bar in Saratoga according to the Albany Business Review. He said the vision of Hattie's menu is not to copy the New Orleans style but to translate it to the Capital Region. Expect Hattie's fried chicken, gumbo, and jambalaya, along with other staples plus some new creative dishes.
