With the official start of winter just a few short weeks away, cold temperatures will be rolling in to get things started early.

We have seen the various winter forecasts calling for a cold and snowy winter, but the proof is in the actual weather as it happens. It looks like Old Man Winter is going to get things started right on time this month.

The Weather Channel has released their monthly temperature outlook for the final month of the year, and the northern United States, including Upstate New York, will be trending colder. Weather patterns are evolving that would plunge the jet stream further south from Canada, leading to colder than normal temps for the Northeast and most of the Northern United States.

Now the big question - will the precipitation follow to bring us some solid early winter snow? That is a wait-and-see, but in the meantime, the Weather Channel says "...keep those heavier winter coats handy."
