Mary flew a flag outside of her Bennington, VT home to honor her deceased son who served in the Army. On Saturday morning, the flag was gone and she needs our help to find it.

Mary's son Tom served in the Army for eight years and in 1997, he passed away in a motorcycle crash at 39 years old. She keeps the flag from his funeral in a case and on display to protect it. In his honor, she always flew the American flag outside her house.

On Saturday morning, the 84-year-old woke up to an empty bracket where the flag should've been, according to News10ABC. The Bennington, VT resident is looking for help to find not just her flag but the person who stole it. She said:

“I would like to meet them. I would like to talk to them and I would like for them to know what that [flag] meant to me and what [taking] it has done to me...I can replace that flag, but it’s the principle of the thing. I wish I could bring Tom back as easy as I could go out and buy another flag.”

If you have any information on the whereabouts of this flag, reach out to the Bennington Police Department. She hopes whoever is responsible will come forward, Mary is hopeful that she'll be able to fly that flag at her home again.
