The coronavirus pandemic has had many businesses shut down for months. Slowly more and more professional services are reopening. Today dentist's offices across New York state get the green light. For me, this is great news. I know that there is a common fear of going to the dentist but in my family, it is a livelihood and a passion that has been closed for the past two and a half months. My sister, Nancy, is a pediatric dentist and my brother-in-law is a general dentist. They have also been out of work for a very long time, having to lay off staff and hopeful that the lockdown would end. Today they can re-open.

According to CBS 6 News, Governor Andrew Cuomo announced yesterday that all dental offices across the state can open today. There are many protocols in place that each office must comply with.

There are many guidelines that are outlined in the New York State Department of Health. They include social distancing, gatherings in enclosed places, workplace activities, movement of individuals, protective equipment, hygiene, cleaning, disinfection, and more. There aren't many people that would be excited about their dentist's office to be reopening, but I am very excited to see those doctors get back to doing what they love to do and helping their patients stay healthy no matter if they have baby teeth or dentures that show their smile.
