Denny Hamlin Tears ACL But Will Continue Racing

Poor Denny Hamlin!

Denny Hamlin can’t seem to get away from injuries! And this one had nothing to do with racing!

Joe Gibbs Racing confirms that Denny Hamlin suffered an ACL injury in his right knee while playing basketball. Wednesday morning an MRI confirmed the tear, yet Hamlin did receive medical clearance to continue racing.

The good news for Hamlin is that he is already in the chase as he has a win on the books! Hamlin does plan to race this weekend, and it’s important to note he’s won at this track twice before! Wouldn’t it be such a great story if he wins this weekend?

So, this injury won’t sideline him this season, but he will undergo surgery during the off season to repair the tear in his right knee! He’s had surgery on his left knee already, he tore his ACL previously, also while playing in a basketball game. No more basketball, Denny! Just kidding!
