It's friday and it's the day before CountryFest 2012 so for today's musical flashback I thought I would break out a great tune and video from one of our past CountryFest performers. This week we go back to 1996 for a big hit from CountryFest 1997 performer Deana Carter, "We Danced Anyway".

From Deana's debut album "Did I Shave My Legs For This?", this was her second straight #1 song following the huge debut "Strawberry Wine". A Top 5 and a third #1 hit would follow with "Count Me In" and "How Do I Get There". Unfortunately, Deana would never hit the Top 10 again with a few minor hits here and there.

Deana bounced around from a few record labels for a few years. In 2007 she released a cover album called "The Chain" as a tribute to her musical heroes as well as her Father Fred Carter Jr. who played guitar on many of the original tracks. After taking a short hiatus to spend time with family, Deana recorded a Christmas album called "Father Christmas". Deana is also a busy songwriter these days, you may have heard a little ditty that she helped write called "You And Tequila".

On a personal note, I remember meeting Deana at the old GNA studios at the Latham Circle Mall years ago. She was wearing some of the best smelling perfume I had ever smelled and it lingered for days. I will never forget that and for that Deana, I thank you!!!
