Cracking Down On Distracted Driving In New York State
Over the next few days, New York State Police will be focussing a little more, and watching for drivers that use hand held devices while they are driving.
It’s called ‘Operation Hang-Up’, which will start today and continue every day through Wednesday, April 15. The troopers will be using unmarked vehicles along with marked patrol vehicles. The last time there was a crackdown on distracted driving, there were almost 600 tickets handed out for offenses that were considered distracted driving,
According to the story on WNYT, if you get a ticket for the first time, you will get a fine that could cost you $200 dollars. After that first ticket, the fines will get more expensive.
