Country Strong Not So Great
The Gwyneth Paltrow-Tim McGraw film "Country Strong" hit theatres this weekend to sub-par reviews and apparently much of the public listened as the picture didn't break the top 5 this weekend losing out to films that have been out for a few weeks including Tron:Legacy, Little Fockers and True Grit.
I went to see the film on Saturday and I really didn't think it was that bad. It's a great drama following Paltrow's character country singer Kelly Canter as she battles addiction in an attempt to re-establish her career. The movie also focuses on two up and coming country stars Beau Hutton and Chiles Stanton (Garrett Hedlund and Leighton Meester) chosen to tour with Canter and their eventual love story. Tim McGraw plays Paltrow's husband/manager James Canter. If you are a Tim fan, you may not like him in this movie. I left the theatre saying his character was a bit of a jerk, but he did play it well.
If you are looking for a happy go lucky movie, this isn't it.This is drama at it's best, especially the unexpected ending which i will not spoil here.
