Usually, famous actors and actresses can be spotted in the Capital Region during the summer. Whether you are at a concert at SPAC or at the Saratoga Race Course, chances are you will run into someone famous.

That's why it came as a surprise to see that a famous actor was spotted at a Capital Region diner on a Monday in the middle of winter. A picture appeared on the Duanesburg Diner Facebook page of an actor who has been in many TV shows and movies.

Sam Waterston, known for many roles in TV and movies, was seen at the Duanesburg Diner having a bite to eat. You may recognize him from his years playing DA Jack McCoy in the original Law & Order series.

Many of the comments on the Duanesburg Diner Facebook page had to do with Mr. Waterston's time on Law & Order.

Terry Moore's comment on the photo on the diner's Facebook page read, "I would have had to walk by and say 'dun dun'. Then get all giddy like a kid meeting a star." The 'dun dun' Terry is referring to is the sound that Law & Order uses between scenes on the show.

Others commented on what a talented actor he was on the show and in others where he played the character Sol on the show Grace and Frankie.

I asked the Duanesburg Diner for a comment on why Mr. Waterston was at the diner or if he frequents it, but they said, "Yes, Sam Waterston was here, but we have no other information about this encounter."
