Lately, the Capital Region has been cashing in with various games from the New York Lottery. There have been scratch-off jackpot winners, Mega Millions winners, and many Powerball winners. We have to add two more to the Powerball winners in our area.

The Saturday, October 11th, Powerball drawing was worth $244,300,000. No one won the top prize, but two winners cashed in on third prize. The numbers for the drawing were 13,16,18,20,27, and the Powerball was 10.

A third-prize winner worth $50,000 was sold in Albany County at the Hannaford at 579 Troy Schenectady Road in Latham. It is worth fifty thousand dollars because the ticket matched four numbers and the Powerball number. The odds of doing that are 1 in 913,129!

Another third-prize winning ticket worth $100,000 was purchased at a Stewart's Shop located in Schoharie County at 526 Highway 20 in Sharon Springs. This winning ticket is worth one hundred thousand dollars because it matched four numbers and the Powerball number, but the Powerplay feature was played, which multiplied the third-place prize by two.

The last Powerball winning tickets were sold at two different Stewart's Shops. They were both worth $50,000 in the September 8th drawing. One Stewart's Shop was located at 30 Church Street in Chatham, and the other was sold at a Stewart's Shop at 3648 Albany Post Road in Poughkeepsie.

Although these were Powerball winners, the Capital Region has had many winners from New York Lottery scratch-off tickets. Stewart's Shops continue to be the luckiest places to play.
