We are very fortunate to have so many great destinations here in the Capital Region. Places where we can go and spend the day, weekend or staycation all within an hour. I'm not just talking about world famous spots such as Lake George and the track at Saratoga. There are a ton of hidden gems that even a local may or may not be aware of.

Over the weekend we left Niskayuna and made our way westbound on I-88. We weren't heading to anyplace in particular but we considered Cooperstown. Along the way we got hungry, saw the exit for Howe Caverns and figured there would be something to eat off this exit. What we found was more than a place to eat.

If you find yourself in Cobleskill, or driving past it on I-88, stop in to Grapevine Farms Restaurant & Boutique. As you will see in the pictures below this is much more than a restaurant. Once you enter the 1850's farmhouse you will find a multi-level store, candy shop, wine cellar and restaurant!

Make sure to be at Grapevine Farms between 11a-3p as that is when lunch is served. In some ways this spot reminded me of a Cracker Barrel restaurant with food, memorabilia on the walls, store and more. One difference is that this place has been locally owned since 2002.
