A survey was conducted that named the best cities for young families to live. A city in the Capital Region finished in the top five. Seventy-five places in New York state were analyzed by NerdWallet to determine the best place to live for young families according to affordability, quality of schools, family-friendliness, and future growth and prosperity of that city. They took data from cities, towns, villages and hamlets with over 20,000 residents.

The study found that Saratoga Springs was the 4th best city for young families to live. They pointed out that there is a lower median home value and lower monthly costs. It finished in the top 10 as most affordable. The quality of the school system was also strong finishing at sixth in the state. Also, Saratoga came in seventh for growth and prosperity.

Other Capital Region cities made the list, including Troy, Albany and Schenectady. To see the survey criteria and the complete list, click here.
