Can The New York Yankees Keep Rolling Like This?
The New York Yankees continue to roll as they are now 34 games over .500 with their win last night over the Oakland Athletics. They have over 20 comeback wins on the season and are winning the AL East by over 10 games. It is a team that didn't change all that much from last year's 2021 season, but something is clicking. All five starters from opening day April 8th until now are completely healthy. Gerrit Cole, Nestor Cortes, Jamieson Taillon, Jordan Montgomery, and Luis Severino all have been efficient thus far this season. This might also be manager Aaron Boone's best season at the helm. He has made very smart decisions to allow his team to be this dominant so far.
One major reason for the Yankees blistering start is because of big number 99 Aaron Judge. Judge reached a settlement of $19 million with the Yankees during arbitration on Friday, however the offseason is the real concern. Will the Yankees pay Judge or will someone else? It really is the million dollar question right now and all season. MJ and I had on Pete Caldera with us on Monday to talk some Yankees and Aaron Judge. We also had a discussion earlier this morning right here on Big Board Sports on last night's win over the A's. Below are both conversations.
At almost 75 games into the season now it is no longer early. This Yankee team is for real and my partner MJ is as big of a Yankee fan as anybody. Just be careful of the Astros and Red Sox if you are the Yankees. Something does feel different about this team in the Bronx in 2022.
