Warner Bros. Wants Ben Affleck to Direct ‘Justice League’ Movie
Progress on a ‘Justice League‘ movie over at Warner Bros. has been bumpy for years now, but it looks like the studio is ready to make forward progress again as they’ve approached actor and director Ben Affleck to helm the film.
The Justice League is DC’s version of ‘The Avengers,’ a superhero super group composed of Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, Aquaman and Martian Manhunter. Over the years, the group has also included Green Arrow, Black Canary, Hawkman and several members of the Green Lanterns.
According to Variety, Warner Bros. is ready to try again after a failed attempt with director George Miller. Miller’s film cast Adam Brody as Flash, rapper Common as Green Lantern and Armie Hammer as Batman.
This time around, Warner Bros. is looking to one of their best directors and stars, Ben Affleck. Affleck previously helmed ‘The Town’ for the studio and has the upcoming true story flick ‘Argo.’ The actor has gone on the record as saying he’ll only direct films in which he also stars, which means if he does sign on for the gig, we can expect to see him starring as well.
Affleck will meet with execs this week to discuss the script from writer Will Beall, who penned Warner’s ‘Gangster Squad.’ The film would be a huge project for Affleck, with a possible release date slated for sometime in 2015.
