Saratoga Contractor Arrested For Never Starting His Job
If we arrested every person who said they were working and lied about it, we'd run out of space in the jail within minutes.

luckily, this isn't the case, but it can be for some professions. That's how one Saratoga man ended up in a heap of trouble...

Arrested for Not Working
This all starts with a man named Jeremy Ostrander. The 35 year old Milton resident was a contractor who took his payment up front. On November 21st, 2025, he accepted $2,100 from someone in Saratoga to start a contracting job for them.
Well, it's late April now, and Ostrander is (allegedly) still in the same place he started. Not an ounce of work was completed for the project, and Ostrander still has the money. You can see how this is becoming an issue, right?
How Did You Think This Was Going to Turn Out?
Obviously, this was registered as theft. Spin it however you want, he took money from someone in exchange for services, and then did not provide those services. Since the money was never returned, it's THEFT.
Ostrander was arrested on April 22nd, and faces grand larceny in the 4th degree, which is a Class E felony. He was released with an appearance ticket.
This is another great reminder to know who you're working with. Typically, independent contractors and other businesses have less restrictions and oversight, which can allow these things to happen. Just know who you're working with beforehand and make sure you trust them before giving them thousands of dollars.
