Restaurants come and go in the Capital Region, but it seems like there is always one closing on busy Wolf Road in Colonie.

A fast-casual restaurant has closed on Wolf Road. CoreLife Eatery shut down its location at 109 Wolf Road for good this past Friday. There wasn’t much of an announcement, just an email to customers letting them know the doors were closing. No official reason was given.

CoreLife still has spots open in Latham and Clifton Park, but this latest closure adds to the list of pullbacks the chain has made in the Capital Region. At one point, they had four locations, including one on Western Avenue near UAlbany that quietly disappeared in the last year.

The brand expanded quickly in 2019, but it’s been slowing down ever since. Earlier this year, the company also settled with the Department of Justice for $7.8 million over a pandemic-era grant issue.

According to the Albany Business Review, the Wolf Road property is owned by Jeff Weiss, and he says he’s close to locking in a new tenant. That strip mall still includes places like Kuma Ani, AT&T, and Jersey Mike’s.

Right next door, Weiss also owns the former Ninety Nine Restaurant building and says there’s strong interest in that space too.

CoreLife isn’t the only recent closure along Wolf Road. The mentioned before, Ninety Nine Restaurant and Denny’s, a longtime staple just down the road, also shut its doors.

Moe’s Southwest Grill is gone too, Buca di Beppo, and Bonefish Grill called it quits as well. While Wolf Road remains one of the busiest commercial stretches in the Capital Region, it’s seeing some turnover in the restaurant scene.
