We're a few weeks into Autumn here in Upstate New York. If you've been getting outside to enjoy the cooler weather, you may be disappointed.

There hasn't been much of a chill in the air since the turn of the seasons, and trends say that may not be changing any time soon.

A Record Breaking Autumn in Albany

As of October 7th, 2025, Albany has seen a record breaking run of days. This will be the fourth straight day in the month of October to hit 80 degrees or above, a rarity in this location of the country.

The last time this happened was 76 years ago, in the fall of 1949. As such, this is causing some concern among meteorologists. While, sure, this could be a one-off event, much like the one in 1949, trends from the past few years show this to be the beginning of a much more troubling pattern.

Upstate New York is Getting Warmer

2023 and 2024 were also the seventh and eighth warmest Autumns on record, adding to this trend of rising temperatures. With the Capital Region hitting another record heat wave in the fall, 2025 could surpass both of these years as the warmest on record. Is this because of Global Warming, rising industry, or something else all together? No one's quite sure, but New York wants to find a way past it.
