Albany No Longer Has A Bowling Alley
Albany's last operating bowling alley has closed it's doors after almost 80 years in business.
Playdium Bowing Center on Ontario Street has closed it's doors for good, according to the Daily Gazette. Playdium had been in business since 1940 and was Albany's last operating bowling alley. The Gazette says Playdium will be knocked down to make way for an apartment complex.
According to the Gazette article, bowling becoming more of a recreation activity has led to the decline in alleys over the years. Still, it's crazy to imagine a city the size of Albany no longer has an alley within the city limits. But, it's not like there is nothing in the area. Lucky Strike at Crossgates Mall has lanes and there is Spare Time in Clifton Park, just to name a few.
You have to imagine with more recreational alleys opening with other forms of entertainment built in, like Lucky Strike, something similar will open at some point in the Capital city.
