A Local Soldier’s Christmas Annual Eve March
I received a message on my Facebook page from a young lady named Laura from Stillwater, about a retired soldier that has a Christmas Eve road march every year.
It’s for those soldiers who are deployed and can't be home for the holidays.
That soldier is S.F.C. Coon SFC Coon from Queensbury, who served in the New York Army National Guard for 32 years prior to retiring in December 2011. The march is put on by him and his family, and it brings in more and more people every year.
The march starts at 9:00 a.m. (on December 24). It begins and ends at the Glens Falls Civic Center. Anyone can march, and you’re encouraged to bring an American flag to carry during the march to show your support of the many men and women that have served, currently serve and of course our future veterans.
You can also, submit a name of a service man or woman that includes deceased veterans. Those names will be put on a wrist band to be worn by the marchers. To submit a name, you can call 518-378-9518 or email.
.There’s also a website that you can visit and a Facebook page if you’d like more information or would like to join the annual march.
What a great way to show your support for our veterans at this very special time of year.
