$750,000 Whitney Handicap This Weekend
Going to be a beautiful day for horse racing at Saratoga Race track on Saturday (tomorrow). Also, tomorrow will be the 84th running of the Whitney Handicap. The 1 1/8 mile race is a highlight of the meet each year. Named after the infamous MaryLou Whitney's family, the pre-partying is just as exciting as the race itself.
Tizway is one of the favorites for the Grade I, $750,000 race. Tizway is trained by Jim Bond. This will be his second shot at the Whitney title. Though some critics think it will be too long of a race for the 6-year old.
.
Other contenders include Nick Zito’s Morning Line who as of this morning, was a disappointing 10-1 odds. Zito feels that will all change by Saturday morning. There are three horses that have worse odds than Morning Line. Rail Trip is 12-1; Headache is 20-1; and Rodman is at 20-1. Zito says the poor odds for his horse are due to Morning Line's finish in his last race. He stated, "I know one thing about this horse, and that he is a very unusual horse. He has a heart as big as the Grand Canyon. I expect a big effort from him."
A total of 11 horses are entered in tomorrow's Whitney going off as the 9th race of the day. Post time will be about 5:44pm. Here's more information on the complete field of horses and all their odds.
