Albany average temperatures went to a new level in 2024.

As we plunge into arctic cold during what forecasters say could be our coldest January since 2011, it is a record in the opposite direction that got crushed in Albany.

Yes, we know from experience 2024 was a super-mild year by Albany standards. Heck, it was so warm on Halloween with record-setting temperatures that I dressed up as Kenny Chesney to stay cool!

Yes, the warm weather for Halloween saved me from lack of planning for my costume this year.

2024 Was The Warmest Year On Record In Albany

It felt really warm all year, and guess what? It was record-breaking. According to the National Weather Service, 2024 was the warmest year on record in Albany with an average temperature of 52.6 degrees.

This is the 2nd year in a row we set the all-time high average temperature in Albany. According to CBS 6, the previous average high of 52.2 was set in 2023. Here are some other notable 2024 Albany temerature stats from CBS 6:

  • Most days over 70 degrees (162)
  • 92 days 80 degrees of higher (4th highest on record)
  • 19 times we set a record high or record high minimum temp.
