August 30, 2011 Although the clean-up has begun and many areas are seeing their power restored, some areas of the Capital Region are still affected by the aftermath of Tropical Storm Irene. The following roads and bridges are still closed, as of 9:45am on Tuesday, August 30, 2011.

August 29, 2011 UPDATED @ 3P -The barge with the crane on it has been corralled on the Mohawk River and officials are attempting to make it a more permanent mooring. The Twin Bridges have reopened.
A 40 ft runaway barge with a 30 foot crane on top is heading toward the Twin Bridges, prompting authorities to close the bridges
August 29, 2011 As of 2:30pm, we have learned that Jumpin' Jacks and Dinosaur BBQ are flooded, Lock 7 may fail, and the New York State Police are reporting that a runaway barge, with a crane on the front, is heading towards the twin bridges. Officials have harnessed the barge and are securing it. Bridges are reopened.
August 29, 2011 We just received word that Schenectady and the Town of Niskayuna are advising residents who are in low lying areas from Lock 7 to the Albany County line to evacuate immediately due to a possibility that Lock 7 may fail.
The effects of Hurricane/Tropical Storm Irene have left alot of people without power and alot of places flooded. The Fairgrounds and surrounding areas in Fonda are one of areas that is currently dealing with a ton of flooding.
August 29, 2011 Like many area cities Troy has it's hands full this morning with post Irene flooding. The Hudson River at Troy is flooding parts of downtown and still has yet to crest.
August 29, 2011 Yesterday as I hunkered down in my home with my family I hoped for the best. I was relieved that the hurricane had been downgraded to a tropical storm by the time it got to
the Albany area, but I still couldn't help but stare at the huge trees surrounding my home and praying one would not fall onto my house
