The Major League Baseball All Star Game used to be a very hot commodity and a must watch event every year.  I'm not saying it still isn't, but there is less appeal to me in watching the All Star Game now.  The American League won their 9th straight ASG last night behind back to back home runs by Giancarlo Stanton and Byron Buxton.  Stanton was named All Star Game MVP for his game tying 457 foot 2 run blast.  The pitching was excellent on both sides with just Tony Gonsolin for the Dodgers and Shane McClanahan for the Rays giving up the runs last night.

I miss when the ASG had the winner get home field advantage in the playoffs.  Now I know that I am in the minority with that take as some people will argue that it takes away from a team's very strong regular season and having the better should get the home field advantage.  Either way, the MLB has to find more ways to make the ASG more watchable.

I did like the mic'd up players as it shows the raw and human side of these superstar players.  The conversations and analysis from them were great, especially from Yankee catcher Jose Trevino.  MJ, Joey, and I had a conversation the ASG earlier this morning right here on Big Board Sports.  Below is our full conversation on this.

I thought the Home Run Derby was great and the ASG was alright but I want to be more engaged in the game itself.  I think the MLB did better this year, but they still can improve moving forward.
