Week Long Burglary Spree Ends in Schenectady
It was a busy week for police in Schenectady and for an alleged burglar between April 12 and April 18. Over the course of those 7 days, four Schenectady businesses were reportedly broken into and items were stolen.
April 12 - Tough Traveler
The first location hit was the Tough Traveler store on State Street. The burglar allegedly broke in around 4am taking a backpack and other items.
April 13 - Union Street Mobil
The following night around 11:30 the burglar broke in to the Mobil station on Union Street, breaking a glass door in the process.
April 15 - Paris Deli & Grocery
Next up was the Paris Deli & Grocery on State Street where a glass door was broken. Cigarettes and Cigars were stolen from this location.
April 18 - Mobil on Broadway
This was the last location hit. It was broken into early in the day, cigarettes were reportedly stolen. This time Schenectady Police were able to track down a suspect on State Street shortly after this burglary occurred.
Arrested was 34 year old Ivan Saldana. When he was initially placed under arrest, he was able to work his way out of the handcuffs and he took off. He didn't get far and eventually police caught up with him and he was officially arrested.
Schenectady Police have charged him with the burglaries of the above locations, he will also be facing a felony charge of escape. His bail was set at $4000, but as of Friday he was still in police custody.
