Head Coach Dwayne Killings and the Great Danes men's basketball team are still getting to know one another. The media guide clearly states that 16 of the 22 players, coaches and staff are new to the program. More often than not, the cohesion that enables them to win college basketball games takes time for the players and the coaches to develop. Monday night in Chestnut Hill in Boston, the UAlbany Great Danes took a huge step in that process.

The Great Danes knocked off Boston College, of the prestigious ACC conference 61-57. UAlbany led for most of the game and battled back quickly when they lost it. UAlbany's Dre Perry, coming off of his game winning performance against Columbia played at that same level against BC. Perry drained 16 points, added 3 rebounds and had a monster block late in the second half. The Danes' Matt Cerruti added 14 of his own, including 4-7 from the 3pt arc and 4 steals.

What felt like the biggest bucket of the night, came from UAlbany senior guard Jamel Horton. With 36 seconds left in the game and the Danes up by two, Horton made a huge three-pointer as the shot clock expired to increase the lead to five. You could see the BC Eagles deflate. Horton's smile told the story for the Great Danes.

Coach Killings was thrilled. "What an awesome win for our program and for our kids. To come to Boston and play a Power Five school, an ACC program, and finding a way to win. This win was about our culture. I think guys are understanding and buying into our culture. We talked about it since the day we got onto campus, our MENTALITY helped us win the game. I'm so proud of our guys." The Great Danes travel to Niagara on Saturday. Pre-game starts at 1:45pm on 104.5 The Team.
