2009- Hank Locklin Dies. Hank lands a deal with RCA Victor after having success on the independent 4 Star label with the Number One hit "Let Me Be The One." Hank writes and records the 1957 classic "Send Me The Pillow You Dream On." Then, Floyd Cramer plays piano on his crossover smash "Please Help Me, I'm Falling" in 1960. Hank is also made the honorary mayor of his hometown of McLellan, Florida.
1982- The Oak Ridge Boys earn a platinum single, for shipping 2 million 45 RPM records of "Elvira." This is quite significant as very few singles sell over one million copies at this time in Country Music, although gold and platinum albums are quite common.
