You're at Saratoga Race Course, it's a hot summer day in the Capital Region, and naturally, you're getting thirsty. What should you reach for?

Well, allow me to enlighten you. Thanks to the Untappd app, we're able to track the beer selections all around Saratoga, and specifically at the track this summer. Patrons have been spilling into Saratoga all day, grabbing refreshing drinks, and sharing their thoughts on each beer.

While I haven't been able to sample the selections yet, and don't worry, I will, I can tell you what Capital Region residents and tourists alike have been enjoying the most. Cheers!

BACK TO REALITY (6% ABV)

"A bright IPA in the truest sense. Heavy additions of wheat and oats create a lush mouthfeel. We walloped this one with some of our favorite American hops (Amarillo, Mosaic and Simcoe) in the whirlpool and dry hop. Notes of ripe orange peel, fresh picked tangerine and citrus. An all-day crusher that won’t tire the palate." (Rating: 3.83/5)

This sounds like the perfect summer beverage to enjoy trackside. I am a sucker for a citrus-infused IPA, and often seek them out outside of the "appropriate" summer months. Be on the lookout for the can, with a design created in homage of Back to the Future.

Psychedelic! DDH IIPA (7.7% ABV)

"Exit on the 13th floor for PSYCHEDELIC! Brewed with mind-melting hops from New Zealand, smooth, soft, and followed by waves of peach / mango / mild blood orange and grapefruit zest. See new worlds with each sip of this exceptional IIPA." (Rating: 4.21/5)

You won't miss this can, I guarantee it. I'm intrigued by the blood orange inclusion, and the color of the beer when you pour it. It will likely come out with a darker color than most citrus beers, which I'm intrigued by.

Green Plastic Watering Can DDH IIPA (8% ABV)

"From that NZ soil comes the spoils- the aroma is uncut tropical punch and white wine intensity, warm pineapple slices, sweet and tart nectarine, ripe honeydew melon, tart white grape, a touch of pepper and sweet chili, with a lush and full creamy mouthfeel and a linger of sweet citrus pith." (Rating: 3.84/5)

I would have to taste this one before passing judgement, but there are some WILD flavor combinations present in this selection. The inclusion of pepper and sweet chili makes me think of wings, not beer, but the eclectic mix of fruit present will likely dominate the palate.
