Thomas Rhett in Awe of Adopted Daughter, Details Her First Day Home
It has been nearly a week since Thomas Rhett and his wife, Lauren, brought their adopted daughter Willa Gray into their home. The toddler was born in Uganda, so she's seeing a lot of things for the first time now that she's in the United States. And the couple are in awe of her.
“She constantly wants to see something new,” Rhett tells People. Some of those new things included her first neighborhood walk. Rhett says she sat silent in her stroller, simply taking everything in.
She has also has been enjoying her new toy piano, so perhaps a future in music is in the cards? “She’s obsessed with it, so we think she’s going to be a prodigy already!” he jokes, adding that she already loves Bruno Mars. “Anytime music comes on, she wants to dance."
Willa Gray had never seen a dog prior to living with the couple, and now she has two furry friends. "They are so sweet, but it’s been hilarious watching her try to pet them," the doting dad says.
The couple introduced their daughter to the world last Friday (May 12), bringing to an end a roller coaster journey to get her home.
"We’re sooooo happy we just can’t stand it,” Lauren writes on Instagram. They say finally getting their little girl home was a dream. “It felt like a dream. I’ve dreamed of us all being on the same continent for so long. It finally feels like everyone is where they’re supposed to be,” the new mom explains.
Willa Gray won't have long as an only child, as Rhett and his wife are expecting a baby girl in August, making her a big sister.
