What are the top 10 school districts in the Capital Region?
When it comes to public high schools in the Capital Region, there's no shortage of great ones - and shout out to all of the teachers and educators who shape and mold our kids in each and every district in the area.
With that being said, bragging rights are on the line here, and there's a new number # 1 when it comes to the best public school systems (K-12) in the Capital Region based upon data released by Niche.com a company that runs a ranking and review site.
The Best School Districts ranking is based on rigorous analysis of academic and student life data from the U.S. Department of Education along with test scores, college data, and ratings collected from millions of Niche users.
Here's how Niche.com ranked the Ten Best Public High Schools in the Capital Region for 2022:
#10 Averill Park CSD
#9 Guilderland CSD
#8 Saratoga CSD
#7 Shen CSD
#6 Voorheesville CSD
#5 Shen CSD
#4 Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake CSD
#3 Niskayuna CSD
#2 Bethlehem CSD
#1 N. Colonie CSD (Shaker High School)
Congrats to the North Colonie Central School District, voted # 1 in the Capital Region by Niche.com.
Consistently near the top of any educational ranking list, Niche tells us that N. Colonie CSD has 5,920 students in grades K-12 with a student-teacher ratio of 13 to 1. According to state test scores, 75% of students are at least proficient in math and 68% in reading.
Change at #1!
This year's Top 10 is a bit of a departure from the same list that came out a year ago.
In last year's Niche report, Bethlehem Central was #1 among area school districts in its annual best districts rating, whereas North Colonie was #2. The rest of the top remained exactly the same.
